Scholarship Application

The Ojai Valley Garden club offers a scholarship to a graduating high school student who will pursue higher education in in the general fields of landscaping, agriculture or environmental studies.  This year, the scholarship award is $3,000.00  and is offered to students graduating either from Nordhoff or Chaparral high school in 2018.

Qualifications – the applicant must:

  • be graduating from either Nordhoff or Chaparral high school in 2018;
  • plan to attend a community college, four-year university or certification program, and
  • pursue study for a career in environmental sciences, such as:

– landscape architecture or construction (from yards to large commercial projects)
– horticulture/agriculture
– botany (organic and native plant studies)
– entomology (pest management)
– viticulture (grape production and science)
– habitat and restoration.

2016 Ojai Valley Garden Club scholarship recipient:  Finn Matte
Finn, a Nordhoff graduate, is the OVGC scholarship recipient for 2016. He is planning on attending Santa Barbara City College in the fall and then transferring to UC Davis. He is an avid gardener with plans of a career in agriculture. Congratulations, Finn!
